Shower Door Squeaks

Loosen each hinge pin by tapping an 8d nail up from underneath.

Shower door squeaks.

To stop squeaky door hinges apply a lubricating oil to the inside of the hinges. Your shower door should now operate without any squeaky noises. More often it means the hinge is dirty rusty or corroded so that the hinge does not move freely. If the hinge is not fixed the door may not latch properly.

When the shower door squeaks at the hinge it may mean the hinge is loose. A squeaky shower door is annoying and can be a hazard. A squeaking shower base can be an annoying and potentially damaging bathroom problem. If they keep squeaking use a hammer and nail to tap out the pins inside of the hinges and then coat them with white grease motor oil or cooking oil.

The door fails to latch properly when it is closed. It is often caused by dirt or rust on the door hinges. Keep the door closed and work on only one hinge at a time. Turns out the culprit was the diverter tub spout that little knob you lift to direct the flow of water from the tub spout to the shower.

That allows water to escape from the shower enclosure onto the floor. To keep your hinges from squeaking in the future you should apply a lubricant every few weeks. When shifting weight in the shower causes squeaks and groans there is likely an unequal distribution of weight. Wipe away any excess and open and close the door several times this will help the lubricant to spread completely.

Then tap the pins back into the hinges. 2 locate the small machined holes for adjustment screws at each roller on the inside. If the squeak comes from the bottom the rollers are too low and the bottom of the door is rubbing on the track. What to do if you re doors are still squeaking.
