I thought i might be given the key to this door when i became the guildmaster but that was not correct the key i got was for the chest by the guildmaster s desk.
As you complete the thieves guild reputation quests for delvin mallory the beds are upgraded while several screens and upgrades around the cistern are added.

A fandom user 85 150 149 224 so the quest says to follow brynjolf.
The locked vault door remains unlocked unless you stay away from the cistern for long enough for it to reset which will reset the doors to locked.
I cant find the key anywhere.
I know how to complete the mission and escape i just wanna know whats behind that friggin door.
After i finish the tg quest where you sabotage the honningbrew did i spell that right meadery and you go back to maven who tells you to go see brynjolf ect ect.

The ragged flagon cistern is a location found in the elder scrolls v.
Skyrim it is reached by going through a rigged cupboard in the ragged flagon just before the entrance leading to the ratway vaults after the dragonborn becomes a full member of the thieves guild it can then also be accessed through a hidden entry under a small tomb next to the chapel.
